Woman Killed After Stopping for Police Check on Highway 65 in Fatal Crash
A woman in her 30s died Thursday after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 65 near the Iron Interchange. According to police, the woman had stopped legally on the roadside following a traffic officer's request for a check when a car suddenly veered off its lane and hit her. Emergency medical teams found the woman with severe multi-system trauma and pronounced her dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, a 47-year-old woman, was lightly injured and taken to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. Paramedics Lia Bonder and Nur Jamal described the accident as severe, noting the victim was found without pulse or breathing and with extensive injuries. Traffic investigators from the Manasseh district are probing the circumstances of the crash. The accident caused heavy traffic congestion on Highway 65 westbound before Iron, near the northbound Route 6 entrance. Police have urged drivers to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
