Rotem Sela Urges Voters to Choose Different Leaders in Upcoming Israeli Elections
The Israeli parliamentary elections are scheduled for October 27, marking the first time since 1998 that elections will be held on their original date. This election follows a turbulent term characterized by widespread protests against judicial reforms, the October 7 massacre, ongoing efforts to free hostages, and a nearly three-year-long war. Amid this backdrop, Israeli actress and public figure Rotem Sela expressed her deep concern over the current state of the Knesset and the government.
On Tuesday evening, Sela shared an emotional Instagram Reel originally posted by Knesset member Naama Lazimi from the Democratic Party. In the video, Lazimi tearfully appeals to Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, Michel Buskila, protesting the halt of legislation that would allow public housing residents to purchase their homes at a discount. Moved by Lazimi’s speech, Sela wrote that she watched the video repeatedly, unable to hold back tears, not only because Lazimi’s words were precise and moving but also due to her sadness over the government’s actions. She criticized those in power for repeatedly acting against the interests of the vulnerable and the future of children.
In her Instagram Stories, Sela declared her refusal to accept the current political reality and prayed that on election day, voters would choose different leaders. She emphasized the need to change the country’s direction and replace unworthy leaders with a strong, ethical, and amazing people. Sela’s statements reflect widespread frustration with the current government and a call for political change in Israel’s upcoming elections.
