Israeli Cyber Authorities Warn of Fake Payment Requests Posing as GOV.IL Messages

The National Cyber Directorate and the National Digital Directorate in Israel have issued a warning about fraudulent messages impersonating GOV.IL. These messages, appearing within existing GOV.IL SMS threads, request payment and include harmful links. Investigations revealed that this is due to the way SMS messages are displayed on certain devices, not a breach of GOV.IL systems. Authorities advise recipients not to click on any links, avoid entering personal or credit card information, and to only make payments through official websites by logging into their personal accounts directly, rather than via message links.
