Barcelona Plans Temporary Move to Montjuïc Stadium During Camp Nou Roof Installation

Barcelona has requested to play their home matches at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium during the first half of the 2027/28 season due to planned renovations at Camp Nou. The club intends to install a new roof over Camp Nou starting June 2027, with the work expected to last approximately four and a half months, until mid-October. To avoid potential delays and complications, Barcelona prefers to relocate all home games in the season's first half, including UEFA Champions League group stage matches, to Montjuïc.

This move also aligns with UEFA regulations requiring teams to play all group stage matches at the same stadium. Alongside the roof installation, additional modifications to Camp Nou are planned, with hopes to return to the renovated home ground by January 2028. Barcelona is familiar with Montjuïc, having played there for two seasons during earlier Camp Nou renovations.

Meanwhile, ongoing summer upgrades at Camp Nou, managed by Limak, aim to open parts of the third stand by October, pending Barcelona city approval. This phased opening will increase stadium capacity and improve the seating arrangement for visiting fans, addressing recent complaints about fan proximity. The club anticipates that completing these enhancements will make the revamped Camp Nou one of the world's most advanced stadiums and mark the conclusion of its largest upgrade project to date.
