Barcelona Begins Preseason Training Without World Cup Players, Israeli Prodigy Ori Goren Joins Squad

Barcelona started its preseason training on Monday without the players who participated in the World Cup, including Ronald Araujo, Ansu Fati, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and others. Due to these absences, manager Xavi Hernández called up several youth players from La Masia, among them 17-year-old Israeli midfielder Ori Goren, regarded as one of the academy's brightest talents. Spanish media highlighted Xavi's clear intention to integrate young players, noting that since his appointment, 13 La Masia players have debuted with the senior team, boosting confidence among the youth.

The young players' initial goal is to successfully complete the first days of training and earn a spot in the squad traveling to the training camp in England. However, most will likely return to the reserve or youth teams once the senior players return from the World Cup. Some, including possibly Goren, might impress enough to remain with the first team longer.

Training began with routine medical tests at the Joan Gamper training complex, followed by the first sessions focused on physical conditioning alongside ball work. The club expects players to arrive in good basic shape after individual training over the past two weeks. Early preparation will include internal scrimmages and competitive drills, with some youth players expected to get game time against a third-division Spanish team. Barcelona has yet to release the full preseason schedule but is anticipated to hold two daily training sessions and team meals to foster cohesion.
