Israeli Talent Oriyan Goren Stays With Barcelona Senior Squad for Preseason Camp
Oriyan Goren, the 17-year-old Israeli football prodigy, is set to join Barcelona's senior team for their preseason training camp in Udine, Italy. The team will play friendly matches against Udinese and Nottingham Forest as part of the preparations. Goren has already appeared in previous preseason games for the Spanish champions and is expected to get further opportunities under coach Xavi Hernández.
Recently, Spanish media reported that coach Xavi cut three academy players from the senior squad but retained Goren, highlighting the club's confidence in his potential. The sports outlet Sport analyzed the decision, noting that the young players, aged 16 to 18, have their entire careers ahead and that this experience could significantly aid their development while giving them valuable exposure.
Sport also mentioned that Xavi has been closely monitoring La Masia talents, especially since most of Barcelona's players who participated in the World Cup will only join the training next week. The short tournament in Udine offers these young players a final chance to prove their readiness to contribute to the senior team this season. It is expected that Goren and his peers will return to the reserve team by the following Monday.
