Barcelona Unveils Squad and Wins Joan Gamper Trophy Against Al Ahly

Four days before their first league match of the 2026/27 season, Barcelona presented their squad to fans at Camp Nou on Wednesday. Nearly 55,000 spectators witnessed the debut of new signing Rodri and Israeli player Oriyan Goren, who played in the second half and was substituted in the 73rd minute. Barcelona defeated Egyptian club Al Ahly 2-1 to claim the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy.

The match featured Al Ahly's 18-year-old Hamza Abd El-Karim, who scored the opening goal in the 30th minute following an assist from Alejandro Balde. Barcelona captain Raphinha, who had assisted Balde's goal, scored a penalty just before halftime to double the lead. After halftime, coach Hanzi Flick made six substitutions, including bringing on Goren, 17, alongside other young players and new signings Dani Olmo and Anthony Gordon.

Al Ahly's Zizo scored in the 51st minute, and Goren nearly equalized two minutes later but missed narrowly. Gordon scored in the 65th minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Goren showed promising moments before being replaced by World Cup winner Pedri. Karim Adeyemi also came off the bench but missed a scoring chance. The match ended 2-1 despite a late penalty miss by Gordon in stoppage time.
