Charlotte FC Signs New Winger Amid Uncertain Future for Liel Abada
Liel Abada, the Israeli winger currently playing for Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer, may be heading toward a new club after two and a half seasons with the team. Since joining Charlotte in March 2024 from Celtic, where he made 112 appearances with 29 goals and 22 assists, Abada has had a solid start but is now seeing reduced playing time. In his first season at Charlotte, he played 27 matches, scoring seven goals and providing one assist. The following season, he appeared in 39 games across all competitions, netting six goals and two assists. However, this season, Abada has only started five of the 17 matches and accumulated just 444 minutes on the field.
The situation has become more competitive after Charlotte FC signed experienced winger Allan Saint-Maximin, formerly of Newcastle and Monaco, further crowding the right-wing position that Abada occupies. While this new signing does not guarantee Abada's departure, reports indicate that several clubs have expressed interest in the Israeli player. Among these are Greek club PAOK Thessaloniki, as well as English sides Birmingham City and Norwich City. According to Transfermarkt, Abada's market value stands at approximately 5 million euros. The coming weeks and months may reveal whether Abada will transfer to a new team or continue with Charlotte FC.
