Sturm Graz Defender Emmanuel Iyo Candidate to Strengthen Maccabi Haifa's Defense
Maccabi Haifa is considering signing Emmanuel Iyo, a 25-year-old defender currently playing for Sturm Graz, to bolster their defensive line. Iyo, who stands 1.85 meters tall, has a notable background including 13 appearances for Austria's youth national teams where he scored twice.
Iyo's career includes transfers from Rapid Vienna to Cremonese in 2022 for 3.5 million euros, followed by a loan to Birmingham City in England. In the summer of 2024, he moved to Sturm Graz for 1.6 million euros and contributed to the club's Austrian Bundesliga championship in the 2024/25 season.
Of Nigerian and Austrian descent, Iyo is versatile on the field, capable of playing as a right back or defensive midfielder. Last season, he participated in 27 matches across all competitions for Sturm Graz, including starting roles in their UEFA Europa League campaign. Maccabi Haifa continues to seek a foreign defender to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
