Ruti Brodud Revives Iconic Coffee Bar in New Food Complex at Phoenix Campus in Rishon Lezion

Ruti Brodud is launching a new 1,500-square-meter food complex at the Phoenix Campus in Rishon Lezion. As part of this project, she will reopen the legendary Coffee Bar restaurant in March, alongside a branch of her ready-food chain Delicatessen and a bakery café. The original Coffee Bar on Yad Harutzim Street in Tel Aviv closed in August 2023 after 30 years due to an urban renewal project. It was the first restaurant Brodud and her then-partner Mati opened after returning from New York, pioneering the New York bistro concept in Tel Aviv with signature dishes like wine-braised hamburgers, foie gras pâté, and Brodud’s cheesecakes. Coffee Bar’s success helped establish the R2M group, which now operates restaurants and hotels.

Last September, the Phoenix insurance company moved into a new campus it built in the Alef complex in Rishon Lezion, consolidating offices from Givatayim and Givat Shmuel. The campus covers 60 dunams with 50,000 square meters of built space, costing about one billion shekels including land acquisition. Adjacent to Brodud’s complex, the Nono Maimi group will open two Nono Maimi restaurants and a branch of its Giraffe chain next year, along with a wine bar. Phoenix aims to transform the campus into a food and entertainment hub for local residents. The complex is also beginning to operate as a museum showcasing Phoenix’s Israeli art collection, founded by former owner Yossi Hakami.
