Trump Threatens Heavy Overnight Strike on Iran, Says U.S. Will Soon Take Over Kharg Island

United States President Donald Trump threatened on Thursday that his country would strike Iran overnight "with great force." According to him, in the not-too-distant future the Americans will take control of Kharg Island, Iran’s "oil island," and additional oil infrastructure.

"We will gain complete control of their oil and fuel market, as we did in Venezuela," the American president wrote on the social network he owns. Overnight, the United States military struck numerous targets in Iran, especially in the south. In Washington, officials said the purpose of the strikes was to put additional pressure on Tehran as part of the talks on a deal.

Trump told Fox that he had spoken with senior Iranian officials and stopped the strikes at their request, while Iranian media denied that such a conversation took place. Trump also threatened that if Iran does not sign the agreement tomorrow, "we'll blow them to smithereens."
