Hili Tropper Rules Out Joining Gadi Eizenkot If Coalition Relies on Arab Parties

Hili Tropper, shortly after announcing his joint run with Yoaz Hendel in the upcoming elections, gave his first interview outlining clear red lines for his political alliance. Despite early polls showing their party struggling to pass the electoral threshold, Tropper expressed confidence in their path, emphasizing that many Israelis are seeking a new Zionist political home. He highlighted that approximately 300,000 Israelis feel unrepresented and are looking for a party focused on internal issues like education and healthcare rather than divisive political debates.

Tropper stressed that their party is a collective effort, including partners like Shira Shapira, whose son died in the Iron Swords war, and Elisaf Peretz, whose brothers were fallen soldiers. He firmly denied rumors of being a proxy for either Gadi Eizenkot or Benjamin Netanyahu, stating they represent many Israelis seeking hope and change. Tropper also made it clear that he will not support Netanyahu continuing as prime minister, arguing that all leaders in key positions during the October 7 attacks should step down.

On coalition-building, Tropper refused to commit to any bloc but insisted on forming a broad Zionist government. He drew a firm red line against relying on Arab parties, marking a significant difference from his former partner Eizenkot. Tropper criticized the current coalition for passing non-Zionist laws and siding with Arab MK Itzik Goldknopf over wounded IDF veterans. He acknowledged past mistakes in joining governments dependent on ultra-Orthodox and Arab parties but said the current challenges require a purely Zionist government.

When asked about joining other parties, Tropper revealed he had multiple offers but chose the difficult path with Hendel because he believes it is the right one. He praised Hendel’s commitment, recalling his immediate response to the October 7 attacks and extensive reserve service. Tropper concluded by emphasizing the party’s mission to provide hope and leadership inspired by personal sacrifice and national responsibility.
