Panathinaikos Reveals Record-Breaking EuroLeague Budget with Three Players Over 4 Million Euros

Following a particularly disappointing season, Panathinaikos has made one of the biggest signings in EuroLeague this summer by acquiring French forward Gershon Yabusele, who reportedly will earn around 4 million euros per season. Greek outlet Gazetta has now disclosed the full salary list of the Panathinaikos roster, revealing a new record for the highest EuroLeague budget ever.

The team's top earners include Kendrick Nunn and Nigel Hayes-Davis, each making 4.5 million euros, alongside Yabusele. Other notable salaries include Mathias Lessort at 2.7 million euros and Juancho Hernangomez at 2.2 million euros. Some players, marked with an asterisk, are reportedly expected to leave the team. The total player salaries amount to approximately 32.4 million euros per season, a sharp increase of about 6 million euros compared to last season, which was already the highest in Europe.

Adding the estimated 3.5 million euros salary of coach Željko Obradović, the combined payroll for players and staff reaches 53.5 million euros including taxes. The overall team budget is projected to be around 60 million euros. Yabusele, Hayes-Davis, and Nunn rank among the top five highest-paid players in Europe, with Vasilije Micić leading at 5.2 million euros.

Other high earners in the league include Silvain Francisco, who signed with Villeurbanne for about 4 million euros. Regarding the EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov, reports vary, with BasketNews citing a salary of 3.7 million euros and Eurohoops reporting 4.1 million euros. This financial commitment underscores Panathinaikos’ ambition to rebound strongly in the upcoming season.
