Panathinaikos Unveils Record-Breaking EuroLeague Budget with Three Players Over 4 Million Euros

Following a particularly disappointing season, Panathinaikos has made headlines again this summer by signing French forward Gershon Yabusele, reportedly earning around 4 million euros per season. Greek outlet Gazetta revealed the full salary list of the Panathinaikos roster, exposing the highest EuroLeague budget ever recorded.

Key salaries include Kendrick Nunn and Nigel Hayes-Davis each earning 4.5 million euros, alongside Yabusele’s 4 million euros. Other notable salaries are Mathias Lessort at 2.7 million euros, Juancho Hernangomez at 2.2 million euros, and Isaac Bonga at 2.15 million euros. Some players, marked with an asterisk, may leave the team according to reports.

The total player salaries amount to 32.4 million euros, a sharp increase of about 6 million euros compared to last season’s already highest-in-Europe payroll. Adding the estimated 3.5 million euros salary of coach Željko Obradović, the combined payroll and professional staff costs reach approximately 53.5 million euros, with the overall team budget nearing 60 million euros.

Yabusele, Hayes-Davis, and Nunn rank among the top five highest-paid players in Europe, with Vasilije Micić leading at 5.2 million euros. Similarly, Silvain Francisco, who signed with Villeurbanne, is set to earn around 4 million euros. Regarding the EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov, reports vary between 3.7 and 4.1 million euros in salary.

This unprecedented budget underscores Panathinaikos’ aggressive investment strategy to rebound in the EuroLeague after last season’s struggles.
