Yair Netanyahu, son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has legally changed his name to Yonatan Hon, according to official documents from the Israeli Tax Authority. These records show his new name alongside his original ID number. While tax deduction certificates issued in December 2024 still bore the name Yair Netanyahu, the identifying details matched those now registered under Yonatan Hon.
This name change follows a pattern within the Netanyahu family, as Yair's brother Avner Netanyahu previously used a different identity. In 2022, when purchasing a property near London, Avner registered under the name Avi Avner Segal in the UK land registry.
The choice of the name "Hon" is significant, reflecting the family’s heritage. It is the original surname of Shmuel Ben Artzi, the father of Sara Netanyahu, the Prime Minister's wife. This connection underscores the personal and familial reasons behind the name changes within the Netanyahu family.
