Masked Man Throws Brick, Smashes Haaretz Newspaper Office Door in Tel Aviv

Late Tuesday night, a masked individual threw bricks at the entrance door of the Haaretz newspaper office in Tel Aviv, shattering the glass. According to footage, the first brick did not break the door, but a second brick successfully smashed the glass before the assailant fled the scene. Haaretz filed a police complaint and announced it will increase security at the building entrance. The newspaper emphasized its commitment to continue independent journalism despite attempts at intimidation.

The Press Council condemned the attack as a disturbing escalation in a clear campaign of intimidation against Israeli media. It warned that repeated violent acts and property damage targeting journalists threaten Israeli democracy, freedom of expression, and the public's right to know. The council called the crossing of red lines a persistent method that must not be tolerated.

This incident follows a similar attack earlier this week when the glass door of Channel 12 News offices in Tel Aviv was also smashed. This occurred about a month after hateful graffiti was sprayed near those offices, highlighting a troubling pattern of violence against media institutions in Israel.
