Masked Attacker Smashes Entrance Door at Haaretz Newspaper in Tel Aviv
In the early hours of Wednesday, a masked individual threw bricks at the glass entrance doors of the Haaretz newspaper offices in Tel Aviv, shattering them before fleeing the scene. Security camera footage captured the assailant hurling two bricks at the doors. This incident follows a similar attack earlier in the week when the glass doors at the entrance to Channel 12 News studios in Tel Aviv were also smashed by a masked person. Police were called to investigate both events.
These attacks are part of a growing wave of incitement against media outlets in recent months, which has included graffiti with hateful slogans and threats targeting journalists. In early June, hateful graffiti was sprayed near Channel 12 News offices, including messages such as "To the traitors, 11, 12, 13. Peleg, Drucker, Abramovich, criminals. You will pay with your loved ones' blood." In May, additional graffiti appeared near the studios with phrases like "The judicial authority for judgment or slaughter," "Sorry by power 100 in the name of Keshet 12 traitors," "Supreme Court enemy of the Jewish people," and "Witch wave." These acts reflect escalating hostility toward Israeli media organizations and their staff.
The police have opened investigations into the vandalism incidents. The attacks on Haaretz and Channel 12 News highlight the increasing threats faced by journalists and media institutions amid a tense political and social climate in Israel.
