Maccabi Tel Aviv Parts Ways with Tamar Blatt Ahead of Move to Rival Hapoel Tel Aviv
Maccabi Tel Aviv officially announced the departure of point guard Tamar Blatt after three seasons with the club, during which he won two championships. Blatt played a significant role in the team but is now set to start a new chapter in his career by joining city rival Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Blatt is expected to sign a three-year contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv worth approximately $1.6 million per season, marking one of the most notable transfers in Israeli basketball this summer. This move coincides with the signing of Yam Madar by Maccabi Tel Aviv, who will fill Blatt's position.
Blatt originally began his career in the Israeli Premier League with Hapoel Tel Aviv from 2014 to 2017 before playing for Hapoel Holon, Hapoel Jerusalem, and Alba Berlin. He returned to Israel to join Maccabi Tel Aviv prior to this latest transfer.
In the previous season, Blatt averaged 9.6 points, 4.5 assists, and shot 39% from three-point range. His season ended prematurely due to an injury that prevented him from participating in the playoff finals series. With his contract at Maccabi Tel Aviv concluded, he became a free agent and is now poised to rejoin Hapoel Tel Aviv, donning the red jersey once again.
