Maccabi Tel Aviv Parts Ways With Tamir Blatt Ahead of His Return to Hapoel Tel Aviv
Maccabi Tel Aviv officially announced on Monday the departure of point guard Tamir Blatt, who is set to sign with Hapoel Tel Aviv. The club expressed gratitude for Blatt's significant contributions over the past three years, during which he won two league championships and two State Cups, establishing himself as one of the top passers in the EuroLeague. Blatt began his professional career with Hapoel Tel Aviv and is now returning for a second stint, reportedly signing a contract worth $1.7 million per season.
Alongside Blatt's move, Hapoel Tel Aviv is also expected to strengthen its Israeli roster by signing Kadin Carrington, who left Hapoel Jerusalem after four years. The team, coached by Dimitris Itoudis, is preparing to respond to Maccabi's acquisition of Yam Madar by reinforcing its squad.
Regarding foreign players, Hapoel Tel Aviv aims to retain much of its current core, including long-term contract holders Elijah Bryant, Dan Otero, Tyler Anis, and Antonio Blakeney. They also plan to renew the contract of a key player from Winner League and keep Serbian star Vasilije Micić, who has two guaranteed years remaining on a contract worth approximately $6 million per season.
