Inter Milan Nears Record-Breaking Transfer of Israeli Defender Anan Khalaily

Inter Milan is close to finalizing the transfer of Israeli defender Anan Khalaily from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, marking the most expensive transfer in Israeli football history. According to reports from Italy on July 4, 2026, the two clubs have a small gap remaining in negotiations, expected to be bridged through bonuses and future resale percentages. Khalaily has already agreed to personal terms with Inter, signing a contract until 2031 with an annual salary of 1.8 million euros, pending completion of the transfer details with Union Saint-Gilloise.

Union Saint-Gilloise is demanding between 25 and 30 million euros for Khalaily, a fee that previously blocked a move to Napoli despite their offer of 1.5 million euros per season, making Inter's proposal more attractive financially for the player. This transfer is set to surpass the previous record for an Israeli player, held by Sevilla's 17 million euro signing of Munas Dabbur in 2019.

Khalaily is expected to replace Denzel Dumfries at Inter, who is likely to join Real Madrid this summer. He will compete for playing time as a wing-back in Inter's three-center-back formation, alongside Brazilian Luis Henrique. Khalaily joined Union Saint-Gilloise in summer 2024 for 6.5 million euros and played 52 matches last season, scoring six goals and providing six assists.
