Reserve Soldier from Netivot Arrested for Illegal Arms Trade Including Assault Rifle and Sniper Rifle
A reserve soldier from Netivot was arrested on suspicion of illegal arms trading and possession, according to a joint statement from the police and IDF spokespersons on Friday morning. During a coordinated operation by the Central Unit (YAMAR) and the Military Police Investigations Unit (METZAH), a special investigative team was formed to probe the allegations against the soldier, who is currently on active duty.
Police detectives conducted a search of the suspect's home during the week, where they seized a Kalashnikov assault rifle, a sniper rifle, and ammunition. The suspect was taken into custody and transferred to METZAH for further interrogation. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to examine the extent of the illegal arms activities.
This case highlights the collaboration between civilian police and military investigative units in addressing illegal weapons possession and trafficking within Israel's security forces.
