Israeli Soldier Arrested in Bat Yam After Military Weapons and Ammunition Found at Home

An Israeli soldier residing in Bat Yam was arrested on Wednesday during a joint operation by Glilot police station officers, the Yarkon District Crime Fighting Unit, and investigators from the Military Police Investigations Unit. The arrest followed a search of the soldier's home where numerous weapons and ammunition were discovered. Among the items seized were Israeli Defense Forces grenades, ammunition, and other weaponry.

Following the discovery, bomb disposal experts from the Tel Aviv police district were called to the scene to ensure safety and handle the confiscated arms. After initial procedures, the investigation was handed over to the Military Police Investigations Unit for further examination of the circumstances surrounding the case.

This incident comes shortly after a separate operation last month in Rahat, where police and Border Police forces uncovered 12 crates of stolen IDF ammunition containing approximately 12,000 rounds, along with M16 rifles, magazines, and other military equipment. That raid led to the arrest of four suspects and ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend additional individuals involved.

Authorities continue forensic and investigative work to trace the network behind the illegal arms and ammunition trafficking. The recent Bat Yam arrest highlights ongoing concerns about unauthorized possession of military-grade weapons within Israel.
