Israeli Arabs Charged with Assisting Terrorist in Fatal Shooting Attack Near Tzur Yitzhak
Israeli authorities have filed indictments against three Israeli Arab suspects, Sharon Alaa Din Jaheim, Waam Matzarwa, and Mahmoud Aftima, accused of aiding Omar Munder Yassin, the perpetrator of a deadly shooting attack near Tzur Yitzhak about a month ago. Yassin, an Israeli citizen from Tayibe, carried out a multi-site shooting spree in the areas of Kochav Yair, Tzur Yitzhak, and Sela'it, killing Chaim Klumity, a member of the Tzur Natan security team, and injuring several others before being killed by security forces after a brief chase.
Police investigations revealed that Mahmoud Aftima supplied the "Carlo" submachine gun used in the attack, while Jaheim and Matzarwa were aware of Yassin's plans but failed to prevent the attack. The attack began at 10:34 AM when armed assailants opened fire from a vehicle and fled. Emergency medical teams treated multiple victims with penetrating injuries, including a 31-year-old man in moderate condition and a security guard lightly wounded in the hand.
Further casualties were found on the road between Tzur Yitzhak and Tzur Natan, with two critically injured victims and one pronounced dead at the scene. In total, five victims were hospitalized, two in serious condition and three in moderate condition. The indictments were submitted on Thursday morning, marking a significant development in the investigation of this severe security incident in central Israel.
