Two Israeli Citizens Aided Terrorist in Deadly Sharon Shooting Attack, Investigation Reveals

The Shin Bet and Israeli police announced that two Israeli citizens from Tayibe, Ala Din Jaheim and Waam Matzarwa, assisted the terrorist Omar Mondar Yassin, also an Israeli citizen from Tayibe, in a deadly shooting attack in the Sharon region about a month ago. On June 7, 2026, Omar Mondar Yassin carried out a lethal shooting spree across multiple locations including Kochav Yair, Tzur Yitzhak, and Sela'it. The attack resulted in the death of Chaim Klumity, a member of the Tzur Natan security team, and injuries to several other civilians. The assailant was killed by Tayibe police officers after a brief chase.

Following the attack, Ala Din Jaheim and Waam Matzarwa, along with Mohammad Aftima from Baqa al-Gharbiyye, were detained for interrogation by the Shin Bet and Sharon police on suspicion of involvement and prior knowledge of the attack. Investigations revealed that Jaheim and Matzarwa were aware of the assailant’s intentions but did not prevent the attack. Further details about the perpetrator’s actions in the days leading up to the attack were uncovered. Additionally, Mohammad Aftima was found to have supplied the Carlo submachine gun used in the shooting.

After completing the investigation, the Sharon police and Shin Bet are submitting indictments against the suspects to the Central District Prosecutor’s Office, which will file charges at the Lod District Court today, Thursday.
