Three Suspects Arrested in Sharon Attack, Including the Terrorist’s Father

Three suspects were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the shooting attack in the Sharon area this morning, Sunday, Kan News reported. The three suspects, including the terrorist’s father, are being questioned by the Shin Bet. The second detainee is a man in his twenties who was an associate of the terrorist in criminal activity, including drug and weapons offenses. The third detainee is a mentally unstable man who claimed to have a connection to the attack.

In this morning’s shooting attack, Master Sgt. (res.) Haim Klomiti, 55, from Tzur Natan, a territorial defense fighter in Battalion 8881 of the Ephraim Brigade, was killed. Five other people were wounded, including two men in serious condition and three in moderate condition. The terrorist was killed.

According to suspicion, the terrorist, Omar Yasin, in his twenties, left Tayibe in a car around 10:30 a.m. and first arrived at the McDonald’s branch at the gas station outside Kfar Yair, where he fired at civilians from the vehicle and wounded two. The terrorist fled on Route 5533 and entered Tzur Yitzhak, where he fired at a civilian guarding the entrance to the community. The guard was wounded in the hand, and the terrorist continued to Tzur Natan and also fired at the guard at the settlement gate. From there he continued to the community of Sal'it, where he spotted Klomiti, who was in his car, and murdered him. In Sal'it, the terrorist also fired at the guard, but the community’s security coordinator fired at him and he fled. He was later identified by security forces, who pursued him and killed him in open terrain between Tzur Natan and Tayibe.

Security forces raided the terrorist’s home and detained several of his relatives for questioning. During the arrest of one suspect who aided the terrorist, the suspect tried to stab the police officers. No one was injured in the incident.
