Israeli Prosecutors Charge Three in Arson, Shooting, and Grenade Attack in Or Yehuda

The Israeli State Prosecutor's Office filed indictments on July 16, 2026, against three suspects involved in a series of violent attacks in Or Yehuda and surrounding areas. The accused are Galeb Abu Din and Fares Nagar, both 19, and Daniel Opolovnikov, 24. The charges include shooting at residents' homes, arson of vehicles, and throwing a grenade in a commercial area.

According to the indictments, Abu Din and Nagar targeted two residents from Holon and Rishon Lezion by shooting at their homes while armed with a handgun, then fleeing the scene. About a week later, Abu Din allegedly attempted to harm a resident of Bat Yam by setting fire to a gasoline-soaked tire in the stairwell of the victim's apartment building. Both face charges including conspiracy, weapons possession, arson, and firearm use in a residential area.

Opolovnikov is separately charged with conspiring with another individual to set fire to vehicles belonging to the same residents. He also allegedly attempted to attack a kiosk in a commercial area of Or Yehuda by throwing a grenade at its window. The grenade was deflected and exploded inside a nearby pizzeria where diners were present, causing injuries and property damage. His charges include conspiracy, intentional injury, weapons possession, use of explosives, and arson.

The prosecution, represented by attorney Ihab Nofal from the Tel Aviv District Prosecutor's Office, has requested that all three suspects be held in custody until the conclusion of their legal proceedings.
