Maccabi Tel Aviv is reportedly prioritizing the acquisition of French guard Killian Hayes, the seventh overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft, as they seek to bolster their roster. The team is aiming to sign two guards and potentially another player at a different position to strengthen their squad.
Following a difficult week in the EuroLeague, which included a significant loss to Crvena Zvezda Belgrade and a disappointing defeat to Paris, the club is concerned about their current situation. They are pushing to finalize the signing of a guard urgently, with some within the club criticizing the delay in addressing the need for a new guard.
"The pace at which things are moving is extremely slow," sources close to the team commented, as Maccabi continues to suffer losses. With the demanding EuroLeague schedule, the team's season is practically slipping away, making the climb up the standings increasingly difficult after their recent back-to-back losses.
Hayes and Serbian guard Nemanja Nedovic are the primary candidates being discussed for recruitment. Hayes, who has not played for several months, presents a challenge as he would need to integrate quickly into the rotation without causing overload. Coach Oded Katash stated in a press conference after the game that he is "sure we will see changes soon, we will sign players."
