Over 118,000 votes have been cast for Israeli parties unlikely to pass the electoral threshold, representing nearly seven Knesset seats. The largest losses are seen in parties led by Yoaz Hendel and Yaron Zelekha, and Ofer Vinter. If current trends hold, approximately 300,000 votes could be wasted in the final count. The electoral threshold has increased to around 179,000 votes compared to the 2022 elections.

  • Over 118,000 votes cast for parties failing to pass Israel's election threshold.
  • Wasted votes could amount to nearly seven Knesset seats if current trends continue.
  • Yoaz Hendel and Yaron Zelekha's party has received the most votes among those likely to miss the threshold.
  • Right-wing bloc faces significant vote loss, potentially impacting Netanyahu's majority.
  • The electoral threshold has increased to approximately 179,000 votes.

As of Wednesday morning, with approximately 38% of votes counted in Israel's elections, over 118,000 votes have been cast for parties that are not expected to pass the electoral threshold. This represents about 5.56% of valid votes, equivalent to nearly seven Knesset seats. If this trend continues, an estimated 300,000 votes could be wasted and not contribute to seat allocation.

The largest single loss appears to be the party led by Yoaz Hendel and Yaron Zelekha, which has garnered 57,666 votes (2.72%). This is significantly short of the 3.25% threshold required to enter the Knesset, and projections suggest it will remain outside.

On the right-wing bloc, the loss of votes could be particularly impactful. Ofer Vinter's party received 37,472 votes (1.77%), and Avi Maoz's Noam party secured 4,057 votes. Combined with other small right-wing lists, this amounts to around 45,000 votes, or about 2.7 seats, that will not aid the bloc in forming a majority.

Even within the Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) sector, thousands of votes are at risk. One Haredi list received 5,436 votes, while another associated with a specific faction garnered 3,777. Together with other small lists, this represents approximately 9,600 votes, or over half a seat, that are unlikely to translate into representation.

Other parties, including Gadi Yevarkan's, have also received thousands of votes but remain below the threshold. In total, around twenty small lists are sharing individual votes. The number of votes cast for parties failing to pass the threshold already exceeds the total votes received by the Ra'am party, which is expected to gain representation. Projections estimate around 5.5 million valid votes will be counted, with the threshold requiring approximately 179,000 votes, an increase from the 2022 elections. If the current rate of wasted votes persists, about 300,000 votes will not be represented in the Knesset, though final numbers may change as counting continues.
