  • IDF forces began evacuating Hebron neighborhoods al-Jalida and Ain Dir-Baha Tuesday night.
  • The neighborhoods are believed to be the origin of two Hamas terrorists who carried out a deadly attack.
  • The evacuation enables IDF and Shin Bet forces to search buildings for terror infrastructure.
  • Brig. Gen. Kobi Heller expanded arrest and search operations in Nablus, Jenin, and Tulkarm.
  • The expanded operations are reportedly linked to Hamas plans for attacks before elections.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began evacuating residents from the al-Jalida and Ain Dir-Baha neighborhoods in Hebron on Tuesday night as part of a broad operational response to a deadly shooting attack. These densely populated Palestinian neighborhoods in the western part of the city are believed to be the point of origin for the two Hamas-affiliated terrorists who carried out the lethal attack at the Yehuda Junction. The evacuation allows IDF and Shin Bet forces to conduct thorough searches of buildings, including the terrorists' family homes and surrounding areas, to locate terror infrastructure, weapons, ammunition, explosives labs, and hidden caches without endangering civilians.

Military officials from the Central Command stated that these neighborhoods are known to be a hub for Hamas activity. A situation assessment is scheduled for Wednesday to determine whether to expand the operation.

In parallel, the Commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, Brig. Gen. Kobi Heller, expanded arrest and search operations in the areas of Nablus, Jenin, and Tulkarm, as well as other locations in Samaria. This expansion is reportedly in response to intentions by Hamas leadership abroad to instigate attacks ahead of upcoming elections.
