American data integration giant Boomi announced Monday its acquisition of Israeli data monitoring company Elementary Data for approximately $43 million. This marks Boomi's second acquisition of an Israeli startup this year, following its July purchase of Lunar.dev for an undisclosed sum and its December 2024 acquisition of Rivery for about $100 million.

Elementary Data, founded in August 2021 by Maayan Salum (CEO) and Or Avidor (CTO), both veterans of the elite Unit 8200, develops a platform for monitoring data and its processing. The platform includes quality control, data usage management, and data cataloging, enabling data teams to identify and resolve issues before they impact business reports, models, and AI agents. Prior to co-founding Elementary Data, Salum managed cyber incident response projects at Sygnia, and Avidor was an engineering manager at Singular.

The company had raised approximately $8.5 million by the end of 2022 from investors including TLV Partners, Cowboy Ventures, and Y Combinator. Its 17 employees in Israel will continue to work under Boomi, which plans to expand its operations in the country. Elementary Data initially developed an open-source tool and launched its enterprise product, Elementary Cloud, in 2024. Its technology is used by over 1,500 data teams, with its open-source tool seeing about 1.1 million monthly downloads and a community of 4,000 members.

Elementary Data's product monitors data flow, automatically detecting anomalies in freshness, volume, and quality. It tracks data lineage and changes down to the column level, helping teams pinpoint the source of errors and their impact on systems. This ensures AI agents can make informed decisions and take actions without causing widespread business errors. The platform also centralizes data definitions, ownership, and quality metrics in a shared catalog, allowing AI tools to access and understand data meaning and reliability.

"Reliable AI starts with reliable data," stated Boomi Chairman and CEO Steve Lucas. "Elementary adds data monitoring, quality control, and usage management tools to our platform, ensuring our customers' AI systems and agents operate on trustworthy data." Maayan Salum added, "Boomi's global reach and partner network will enable us to make trusted data the default in the AI era. We are just at the beginning."
