Israeli coach Barak Itzhaki is reportedly a leading candidate to take over as the new manager of Cypriot club Anorthosis. The move comes shortly after Anorthosis fired its previous coach, Nestor el Maestro, following a dismal start to the season.
El Maestro was appointed this past summer but managed only one win and five losses in his tenure, leaving the team in 13th place out of 14 in the Cypriot First Division. Itzhaki, who left Beitar Jerusalem in the summer, is being considered for the role.
According to reports from Cyprus, Itzhaki's past success as a player for Anorthosis during the 2012-2013 season, when he was on loan from Maccabi Tel Aviv, makes him a relevant candidate for the club.
