Israeli coach Barak Itzhaki is reportedly a leading candidate to take over as the new manager of Cypriot club Anorthosis. The move comes just after Anorthosis fired its previous coach, Nestor el Maestro, following a particularly poor start to the season.
El Maestro, who was appointed this past summer, led the team to a dismal record of one win and five losses, placing them 13th out of 14 teams in the Cypriot top league. Itzhaki, who left Beitar Jerusalem in the summer, is being considered for the role.
According to reports from Cyprus, Itzhaki's past success as a player for Anorthosis during the 2012-2013 season, when he was on loan from Maccabi Tel Aviv, makes him a relevant candidate for the coaching position.
