Bnei Sakhnin secured their second victory of the season on Saturday, defeating Hapoel Petah Tikva 2-0. The win propelled the team to eighth place in the league standings, five points clear of the relegation zone. This marked Sakhnin's third consecutive match without conceding a goal, but the focus this time was on their improved offensive performance.
Prior to this game, Yossi Abuksis's team had scored only three goals in six matches. However, against Petah Tikva, they nearly doubled that tally with impressive goals from Ahmed Salman and Matthew Kodjo. Both forwards were praised for their contributions, with one observer noting, "There is a lot of talent in Sakhnin, you need to know how to use it and not be afraid. There are attacking players here who have provided quite a few numbers during their careers."
Right-back Leroy Owusu also received commendations for his role since joining the club, during which time Sakhnin has not conceded. Owusu also contributed an assist in the recent match, making him appear to be the team's most significant summer signing alongside goalkeeper Raul Balayo.
Following the match, coach Yossi Abuksis and chairman Khaled Duki were seen celebrating with the players in the locker room, dancing alongside them.
