Israeli Rhythmic Gymnastics Team Wins Gold at Cluj Challenge Cup
The Israeli rhythmic gymnastics team achieved a significant victory at the Challenge Cup in Cluj, Romania, on June 27, 2026. The team secured first place in the all-around group competition with a total score of 56.050 points, excelling in both the five-ball routine (28.150 points) and the combined routine (27.900 points). Germany and Uzbekistan took second and third places respectively.
The group team members included Agam Gav, Arina Gavozdetsky, Avigail Shvad, Taya Sokolanko, Sofia Frezin, and Keren Sobol, representing various Israeli clubs. The team advanced to two apparatus finals following their top ranking.
Individually, Daniela Munits from Maccabi Makpet Petah Tikva finished 12th in the all-around and qualified for three apparatus finals: hoop, clubs, and ribbon. Lian Rona from the Municipal Holon Club placed 15th after delivering four strong routines.
The team is coached by head coach Ayelet Zusman, supported by Julieta Kantelopi (individual), Natalia Stipnova (group), assistant coach Ida Meirin, and group coach Ela Samoflov. Judging duties are handled by Victoria Pilnovski (individual) and Ela Samoflov (group). The delegation is led by Natasha Asmolov, with masseuse Roni Shachori.
Avi Shagai, chairman of the Israeli Gymnastics Association, praised the team’s consistent high performance and professional work, congratulating the athletes and staff. The competition will continue tomorrow with individual and group apparatus finals, where Munits and the group will compete for further medals.
