Israeli Rhythmic Gymnasts Aim for Medals at 2026 World Championships in Frankfurt

The 2026 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships begin tomorrow in Frankfurt, Germany, at the historic Festhalle arena. The competition features 101 individual gymnasts and 40 national teams, including Israel's delegation. Israeli individual competitors are Meital Maayan Somkin and Daniela Munitz, while the group team includes Agam Gav, Arina Gavozdetsky, Avigail Shvud, Taia Sokolenco, Sofia Perzin, and Keren Sobol.

This championship serves as the first qualifying event for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. The top three gymnasts and top three teams in the all-around competition will secure Olympic berths for their countries. The event spans five days, starting with two days of individual qualifications on Wednesday and Thursday to determine the 18 gymnasts advancing to the all-around final and the eight finalists for each apparatus.

The individual all-around final and first medal awards take place on Friday. The group competition begins Saturday, with teams performing two routines: one with five balls and a combined routine involving hoops and clubs. Scores from these qualifications decide the group all-around champion and the eight finalists for each routine. Sunday concludes the championships with apparatus finals and medal ceremonies, awarding four individual and two group titles.
