Israeli Gymnasts Daniela Munits and Meital Somkin Reach All-Around Final at World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships

Israeli rhythmic gymnasts Daniela Munits and Meital Maayan Somkin advanced to the all-around final at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships held in Frankfurt. Munits placed 13th and Somkin 14th in the qualification round, securing their spots among the top 18 gymnasts who will compete in the all-around final scheduled for Friday at 16:00. Additionally, Munits qualified for the hoop apparatus final after scoring 29.450 points in qualifications, ranking third overall.

In the all-around qualifications, Munits earned a total of 83.000 points based on her top three scores from four apparatuses: hoop (29.450), ball (26.900), clubs (26.650), and ribbon (26.100), accumulating 109.100 points across all four routines. Somkin scored 82.600 points in the all-around from her best three apparatus scores out of four: hoop (28.100), ball (27.150), clubs (24.450), and ribbon (27.350), totaling 107.050 points.

The Israeli team is supported by coaches Ayelet Zusman and Julieta Cantlopi, physiotherapist Natali Bertler, and judge Ela Samoplov. The group competition will begin on Saturday, with the top three teams earning qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Avi Shagai, chairman of the Israeli Gymnastics Federation, praised the team's strong start, highlighting the significance of having two Israeli gymnasts among the world’s top 18. He congratulated the athletes and coaching staff and expressed optimism for the upcoming finals and the rest of the championship.
