Israel Wins Group All-Around Gold at Rhythmic Gymnastics Challenge Cup in Cluj

The Israeli rhythmic gymnastics team achieved a significant victory at the Challenge Cup in Cluj, Romania, on June 27, 2026. The team secured first place in the group all-around competition with a total score of 56.050 points, excelling in both the five-ball routine (28.150 points) and the combined routine (27.900 points). Germany and Uzbekistan finished second and third respectively.

The Israeli group team members include Agam Gav, Arina Gvozdecki, Avigail Shvad, Taia Sokolanko, Sofia Frezin, and Keren Sobol, representing various clubs such as Hapoel Ramat Eliyahu Rishon Lezion, Maccabi Ashdod, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Maccabi Makpet Petaḥ Tikva, and Ironi Holon. The team is coached by head coach Ayelet Zusman, supported by Julieta Kantalofi, Natalia Stipnova, Ida Meirin, and Ela Smopelev, with Victoria Pilnovski and Ela Smopelev serving as judges. The delegation is led by Natasha Asmolov and accompanied by masseuse Roni Shachori.

Individually, Daniela Monitz from Maccabi Makpet Petaḥ Tikva placed 12th in the all-around and qualified for three apparatus finals: hoop, clubs, and ribbon. Lian Rona from Ironi Holon finished 15th overall after completing four strong routines.

Avi Shagai, chairman of the Israeli Gymnastics Association, praised the team's consistent high performance throughout the season and congratulated the athletes and coaching staff. The competition will continue with individual and group apparatus finals, where Monitz and the group team will compete in their respective events.

The Challenge Cup in Cluj marks a continuation of Israel's rising prominence in rhythmic gymnastics on the international stage.
