Hapoel Tel Aviv has begun planning for next season after its painful 3-1 loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the championship series. According to Sport5, the club has already approached two Israeli players from the Premier League, Spencer Weisz and J.J. Kaplan.
Weisz is the first target. He brings extensive top-flight experience and opened the season with Ironi Ness Ziona. In 31.9 minutes per game, he averaged 9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
The second player Hapoel wants to add is Kaplan, a guard-forward who also had a strong season. He averaged 7.5 points, shot 62.9% on two-pointers and grabbed 6.1 rebounds per game.
Kaplan previously faced Hapoel in the quarterfinal playoff series. He impressed in the opening game of that matchup, but his team was eliminated after two straight losses. Hapoel is now trying to strengthen its roster ahead of the upcoming campaign.
