Hapoel Tel Aviv has begun planning for next season after its painful 3-1 loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the championship series. According to Sport5, the club has already contacted two Israeli players from the Premier League as it looks to strengthen its roster.
The first target is Spencer Weisz, a veteran league player who started this season with Ironi Ness Ziona. He averaged 31.9 minutes per game, scoring 9 points and grabbing 7.2 rebounds, while also handing out 3.4 assists.
Hapoel is also pursuing J.J. Kaplan, a guard-forward who had a strong season for his team. Kaplan averaged 7.5 points, shot 62.9 percent on two-pointers, and collected 6.1 rebounds per game.
Kaplan also faced Hapoel in the playoff quarterfinals. He played well in the series opener, which his team won, but was eliminated after two straight losses. The club is now working on its offseason moves as it prepares for the next campaign.
