Carlos Garcia, the former Maccabi Tel Aviv defender, has taken a senior coaching job at Ajax after progressing through assistant roles in recent years. He previously worked as an assistant at Beitar Tel Aviv/ Bat Yam, and last season joined Oscar Garcia, who had coached him at Maccabi Tel Aviv, on Ajax’s staff.
At first, Garcia worked with Ajax’s under-23 team, Jong Ajax, and later also joined Oscar Garcia with the senior side toward the end of the season. After Ajax announced its split with Oscar Garcia, the club said on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, that Carlos Garcia had been promoted to head coach of Jong Ajax, starting in the coming days.
Ajax also confirmed that several changes were made to the Jong Ajax coaching staff. In the club’s announcement, it said Garcia, who joined Ajax in February as Oscar Garcia’s assistant, was appointed head coach with immediate effect.
He will be assisted by Toni Astorgano and Urby Emanuelson.
