Carlos Garcia, the former Maccabi Tel Aviv defender, has taken another step forward in his coaching career at Ajax. After spending several seasons mainly as an assistant coach and also working at Beitar Tel Aviv/Beit Ya'akov, he has now been promoted to a senior role at the Dutch club.
Last season, Garcia joined Oscar Garcia, who had previously coached him at Maccabi Tel Aviv, on Ajax’s coaching staff. He served as Oscar Garcia’s assistant with the club’s under-23 side, Jong Ajax, and later also worked with the first team toward the end of the season.
After Ajax announced its split with Oscar Garcia, the club said on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, that Carlos Garcia had been appointed head coach of Jong Ajax, effective immediately. He is set to begin work in the coming days.
Ajax also said changes had been made to the Jong Ajax coaching staff, and that Garcia will be assisted by Toni Astorgano and Urby Emanuelson.
