Ajax Nears Signing Israeli-Born Victor Tsygankov from Girona for Under 5 Million Euros

Ajax has reached a preliminary agreement with Girona to acquire winger Victor Tsygankov, who was born in Israel and currently plays for the Spanish club. The total transfer fee is expected to be just under 5 million euros, with Girona also securing a percentage of any future sale. Tsygankov, 28, is set to travel to the Netherlands soon to finalize the deal.

Tsygankov, who grew up in Dynamo Kyiv's youth system and has made 67 appearances for the Ukrainian national team, is eager to reunite with his former coach, Mitchell, at Ajax. The main hurdle remaining is the personal terms agreement, with discussions scheduled for Monday in Amsterdam. Known primarily as a right winger but capable on the left flank, Tsygankov fits the profile of the fast, creative winger Ajax needs following the departure of Mika Godts to Paris Saint-Germain.

His arrival could impact Oscar Gloukh, who typically plays as a number 10 or left winger under coach Mitchell. Tsygankov has played 119 matches for Girona, scoring 20 goals and providing 23 assists, while his Dynamo Kyiv record includes 94 goals and 64 assists in 236 games. PSV Eindhoven had attempted to sign him in January 2023 as a replacement for Cody Gakpo, who moved to Liverpool, but Girona secured his services first.
