Ajax Nears Signing Israeli-Born Victor Tsygankov from Girona for Under 5 Million Euros

Ajax has reached a preliminary agreement with Girona to acquire winger Victor Tsygankov, who was born in Israel and developed in Dynamo Kyiv's youth system. The total transfer fee is expected to be just under 5 million euros, with Girona also securing a percentage of any future sale. Tsygankov, 28, who has made 67 appearances for the Ukrainian national team, is set to travel to the Netherlands soon to finalize personal terms, with talks scheduled in Amsterdam.

Tsygankov primarily plays on the right wing but can also operate on the left, fitting the profile of the fast, creative wingers Ajax coach Jordi Cruyff is seeking following the departure of Mika Godts to Paris Saint-Germain. His arrival could impact the role of Oscar Gloukh, who usually plays as a number 10 or left winger under coach Mitchell.

During his time at Girona, Tsygankov made 119 appearances, scoring 20 goals and providing 23 assists. His record at Dynamo Kyiv was even more impressive, with 94 goals and 64 assists in 236 games. PSV Eindhoven had attempted to sign him in January 2023 as a replacement for Cody Gakpo, who moved to Liverpool, but Girona secured his services first. The transfer is expected to be completed soon, marking a significant addition to Ajax's squad.
