The Central Elections Committee said its chairman, Deputy President of the Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, spoke with Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and Police Commissioner R.N. Danny Levy and reached an agreement that no draft evaders will be arrested on election day.

According to the statement, because of the importance of the right to vote, there will be no enforcement operations at all concerning the enlistment of draft evaders on the day of the Knesset election, and every voter will be able to reach the ballot box without fear.

Levy said the police will operate with reinforced forces on election day to ensure the elections are conducted properly and to maintain public order. The chairman of the Central Elections Committee welcomed that arrangement.
