Passenger Who Stabilized Plane Recounts Dubai Flight Drama to Netanyahu

A passenger who helped subdue a pilot attempting to hijack a flight from Dubai recounted the dramatic events to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The passenger explained that after he and others neutralized the assailant, he entered the cockpit and took control of the aircraft's yoke as the plane was diving nose-down. Netanyahu expressed admiration for the passenger's quick thinking, calling it "great resourcefulness."

During the meeting with passengers who assisted in subduing the pilot, the individual described finding one pilot injured near the cockpit door and the suspect tampering with the instruments between the pilots' seats. He stated that the suspect was trying to disable the plane's systems. After the suspect was removed from the cockpit, the passenger re-entered and found the plane in a steep dive.

He then grabbed the controls, pulling back on the yoke to stabilize the aircraft. When Prime Minister Netanyahu asked how he knew what to do, the passenger humorously replied, "I watch 'Air Crash Investigation,' Mr. Prime Minister." The passengers successfully restrained the suspect until the plane could be stabilized and control was returned to the remaining crew.
