Israeli PM Netanyahu Details Pilot's Attack on Flight to Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed new details Wednesday about a serious incident aboard a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Israel, stating that one pilot allegedly stabbed his colleague and attempted to crash the plane. The majority of passengers on board were Israeli.

"As they approached Israel, one of the pilots stabbed the other and apparently tried to crash the plane with all its passengers," Netanyahu said, calling the event a "very serious security incident." He recounted speaking with an Israeli passenger who described the aircraft beginning to circle and then dive towards the ground. According to this passenger's testimony, relayed by Netanyahu, they managed to enter the cockpit with a crew member and together subdued the pilot who had stabbed his colleague while attempting to sabotage the aircraft's systems.

Another member of the flight crew then entered the cockpit and stabilized the plane, which ultimately made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. "I salute these heroes who showed composure and extraordinary courage. They saved many lives and averted a terrible catastrophe," Netanyahu stated, confirming that "All passengers are now out of danger."

The pilot suspected of the stabbing has been arrested and is being questioned by Saudi authorities. Israel is maintaining close contact with relevant authorities to ensure the safety and return of those involved, according to the Prime Minister. Netanyahu also instructed security services to prepare for further potential threats, adding, "We are constantly assessing the situation and will keep you informed of developments."
