Israeli Passenger Thwarts Jihadist Attack on Flydubai Plane

An Israeli passenger, Zvika Mans, recounted his experience thwarting a terrorist attack on a Flydubai flight, describing it as a "traumatic event" that prevented a major disaster. Mans, along with two other passengers, subdued the assailant after he attacked the pilot in the cockpit. Another crew member, identified as a pilot, entered the cockpit during the altercation, which involved stabbing. Mans stated that his wife heard shouts from the cockpit, and his young daughter was in the restroom at the time.

Following the incident, two additional pilots took control of the aircraft and safely landed it. Mans expressed hope for a safe return to Israel for himself, other passengers, and families who experienced the harrowing event, attributing the prevention of a larger catastrophe to the "resourcefulness of Israelis."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israel is in continuous contact with relevant parties to ensure the safety and return of the passengers. He also addressed the possibility of further threats, stating that ongoing situation assessments are being conducted and updates will be provided as developments occur.

Defense Minister Israel Katz characterized the event as an attempted "jihadist attack" that was foiled by the bravery of Israeli passengers who intervened. According to initial information, the attacker's sole intention was to crash the plane with all its occupants. The Mossad has confirmed the flight crew involved, who are expected to return to Israel soon.
