Lapid Accuses 'Political Source' of Lying Over Security Briefing

Opposition leader Yair Lapid has escalated his dispute with an unnamed "political source" regarding the details of a security briefing he received from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The controversy centers on whether Lapid was adequately informed about a significant increase in terror activity abroad.

A political source claimed that Lapid was updated on a substantial rise in overseas terror operations, stating it was on a scale not seen in years. However, Lapid vehemently denied this, calling it another lie from the same source and its office. He asserted that the warning about foreign terror activity is specific, has existed for over two years, and is unrelated to the recent incident involving a Flydubai plane.

Lapid accused the source of trying to exploit the actions of "heroic Israelis" who prevented a disaster that he claims Netanyahu failed to prepare for. The dispute intensified after Jonathan Urich, a senior official in the Netanyahu's office, linked the prime minister's earlier warnings to the Flydubai incident. Lapid explicitly stated that no scenario similar to the plane incident was presented to him during his briefing.
