Israelis Rescued From Conflict Zone in Ethiopia After Three-Day Operation
A three-day operation concluded yesterday and today with the successful rescue of Israelis stranded in Lalibela, northern Ethiopia, due to escalating regional conflict. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that helicopters transported the group to a secure area, from which they will proceed to the capital, Addis Ababa.
The ministry stated that the rescue was made possible by intensive efforts from Foreign Minister G Gideon Sa'ar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Israeli Embassy in Addis Ababa, all working in continuous coordination with relevant Ethiopian authorities. The ministry expressed gratitude to the Ethiopian authorities for their cooperation and to all other parties who assisted in the operation.
Israeli diplomatic missions in Addis Ababa will continue to support the rescued individuals until they reach Addis Ababa safely. The operation highlights the challenges faced by foreign nationals in areas experiencing security escalations.
