Israelis Rescued by Helicopter From Ethiopia Amid Security Escalation
A group of Israelis stranded in the northern Ethiopian city of Lalibela has been successfully evacuated by helicopter due to a security escalation in the region, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday. The rescue operation, which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed three days of intensive coordination efforts. These efforts involved Foreign Minister G Gideon Sa'ar, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Israeli Embassy in Addis Ababa, working in conjunction with Ethiopian authorities and other relevant parties.
The evacuated Israelis were transported by helicopter to a secure area, from which they are expected to continue their journey to the capital, Addis Ababa. The Israeli Embassy stated it would continue to provide support to the group until they reach their final destination. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the Ethiopian authorities for their cooperation in facilitating the successful rescue mission.
